How long should your film be by platform? The 2026 channel-by-channel guide

There’s no “right length” for a corporate film. There are lengths suited to each platform — and ignoring that means producing an excellent film that no one watches because it’s 30 seconds too long in the wrong place.

LinkedIn: 60 to 90 seconds for organic formats

The LinkedIn algorithm favors native videos under 3 minutes, but average attention collapses after 90 seconds. For an executive portrait, a testimonial or an employer brand snippet: 60–90 seconds. For an in-depth expertise presentation: up to 3 minutes if the hook lands. Beyond that: YouTube.

Instagram Reels / TikTok: 15 to 45 seconds

These platforms reward completion rates (how many people watch to the end). A 45-second Reel watched at 80% performs better than a 2-minute Reel watched at 20%. Simple rule: if the message doesn’t fit in 45 seconds, the message isn’t yet clear enough.

YouTube: between 3 and 8 minutes for corporate

YouTube is the only platform where long-form is rewarded — if the content justifies the length. A brand documentary, a craftsmanship demonstration, an in-depth portrait: 4–8 minutes work. Below 3 minutes, YouTube gives you little organic discovery signal.

Website: 90 seconds maximum on the homepage

A visitor landing on your website didn’t decide to watch you — they’re looking for information. Homepage video has to grab attention in 5 seconds and convey the essentials in 60–90 seconds. Beyond that, play-through rates drop sharply.

Events and presentations: 2 to 4 minutes

In a room, in front of a captive audience, you can afford more. A product launch film, an aftermovie projected at the end of a gala: 2 to 4 minutes are acceptable. Beyond that, even a friendly audience starts to drift.

Our practical advice

Start by defining the primary distribution platform — the one where you really want impact. Optimize the length for that platform. Then create derivative versions for other channels. Don’t do the reverse: a “universal” film that tries to please everywhere often ends up optimal nowhere.
